VUTRAX 12.5 onwards for
Windows
Slow Startup when run over a
network
This applies only to the Windows version of Vutrax
and when the installation directory (not just data files)
is accessed over a
network. The problem is diagnosed by the displayed
message
"VUTRAX is
removing temporary files ...".
taking an excessive amount of time to go away.
Vutrax normally removes work files when a new
(resident) Vutrax Messenger (VTXMSG) is started. Over a
network (with
no local disc cache) the file scanning sequence can be
very slow.
- Modifying the Behaviour:
- To stop the clearing out of work files apply SAN
197 to X:\vutrax\win32\menuvtx.exe to apply the patch
84 c0 0f 84 ? ? ? ? 0f ;
38 ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?
- Thereafter prevent clutter by occasionally removing all
files from folder X:\vutrax\temp (but leave the folder)
when nobody is using Vutrax.
This procedure assumes that you have mapped the network
folder to drive X:. If it is accessed by a network
path then prefix this path instead e.g.
\\server\vtx\win32\menuvtx.exe and
\\server\vtx\temp .
